Abstract

The paper presents the method of analysis of the disturbing influence of 3 kV DC traction substation on the supplying AC network. The main feature of the applied method is the usage of specialized software to simulate the supply system of the railway. The traction substation current, received from the simulation, is applied to calculate the level of harmonic distortion and voltage flickers at the power utility network and then to compare them to the defined limits. The example application of the method to the traction substation on E20 3 kV DC transit railway line in Poland is presented and discussed.
